Are you a Mainframe expert with a deep understanding of MICS, RMF, and SMF data? We are looking for a Senior Technology Architect to lead critical infrastructure oversight and capacity planning for a major public sector initiative in Toronto!
Role: RQ11013 - Technology Architect - Senior
Location: Toronto, ON (5 days onsite)
Duration: 11-Month Contract
The Mission
You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Government of Ontario’s Mainframe performance and capacity disciplines. This involves managing day-to-day operations (KTLO), post-migration activities, and disaster recovery readiness for large-scale enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Capacity Planning: Author and update capacity plans, performing ‘what-if’ impact models for CPU upgrades and refreshes.
Performance Analysis: Analyze mainframe resource data to optimize computing infrastructure and IMS/DB2 subsystems.
Technical Support: Lead incident analysis/resolution and support the installation of new Mainframe hardware platforms.
Financial Oversight: Reconcile mainframe billing for ISV workloads and identify CPU cost-saving opportunities.
Migration & Decommissioning: Support software and networking component migrations for a multi-partitioned environment.
What You Bring to the Table:
✅ 7+ Years of dedicated experience in Mainframe Performance/Capacity Management.
✅ Tool Mastery: Expertise in MICS, RMF, and other ISV interactive tools.
✅ Data Proficiency: Strong background working with SMF data and SAS Programming.
✅ Core Concepts: Firm understanding of IBM CPU concepts, including CBUs (Capacity BackUp) and CoD (Capacity on Demand).
✅ Calculations: Skilled in estimating workload impacts in terms of MIPS and MSUs, including zIIP utilization.
Requirements:
10+ years in Enterprise Tier 4 Mainframe Infrastructure.
Proven track record in data center uplifts and hardware/software migrations.
Strong documentation skills and experience in Change Management.
